RAFAEL RAMIREZ – SHEKERE, GUIRO ON MI NEGRA, CONGA SOLO ON CALOR
Rafael ‘Rafy’ Ramirez is a fourth generation native San Franciscan of Hispanic lineage, and was raised in the heart of the city of San Francisco’s Mission District; home to many Latino cultures. Raised during the Sixties it was a musically creative time and diverse community. Rafael started his Latin percussion tutelage under Alex Mendez at the age of 12. Rafael’s superior skills on the congas is displayed on the song Calor and the shekere and guiro on Mi Negra.
